I also started tackling the banister– It use to be a hideous orange colored wood- but it’s still a work in progress so I haven’t removed the tape yet.
Along with the banister I decided to start tackling the doors on the main level and painting them white– (they were also the horrible orange– would love to just get new ones but the cost and the hassle of putting in all new doors- ugh so were gonna see if white will work)
While waiting for the paint on the doors to dry I’ve been stripping one of the dressers that I bought– I love stripper– the way it bubbles– so fun!
And because I didn’t have to much to do I decided I’d try and paint our doorknobs and see if I liked them– they use to be the ugly brass/gold. We sanded them, got primer on them, brown paint a little black and two coats of clear top coat– hopefully that works—
And poor Dave has been sick the last few days. Brynley decided she wanted to take her nap with dad today since he was home– I loved watching my two sweeties sleep in my break time waiting for paint to dry
My Dad was the flooring workaholic expert and worked us till us little sissy city kids thought we we’re gonna die. It was alot of fun and I love it! We still have some work to do on it but the kitchen is one step closer to my design board- *awesome
After my parents left it was up to me and Dave to sand and finish the floor– but seriously my dad worked Dave to death so I did most the sanding and he did the sweeping of the sawdust-(Dave is such a good sweeper) We finished it with all the coats I think on Wednesday and I put one coat of paint on the baseboards and than when Saturday came rolling around we crashed– I was so burned out and tired and ya soooo tired- instead we sat and ate Junior mints drank some dew and watched star wars such fun times. Hopefully this weekend we’ll get the baseboard on though & officially call the floor finished
and here’s the Before and currently–lots of plans for the kitchen but it’s coming along– also if I could draw your attention to the hideous gold chandelier– ya that thing was about tore out of the ceiling after I banged my head on it 50,000 times– it will be the next thing replaced along with the oh so lovely maroon blinds
All in all I love our new floor– it’s awesome, so smooth and pretty- It’s time I go downstairs and admire it again. night everyone.Read More »
So Dave and I have been working on a webpage for his sister, that is for their business.
Luckily I’ve lucked out and do not have to work with any of the code- ugh, that stuff turns my brain to mush- But I was in charge of designing it- of course with Dave’s input- he wanted more of a sleek modern, glass button kinda look thingy- makes sense right But that kinda design I really don’t do very much- I’ve had to learn all about gradients and stuff, it’s been fun.
I’m not to excited bout cutting all those gradients up to make it useful for the webpage, but o-well.
So I’ve kinda designed it to look like the inserts of the fireplaces with the louvers and stuff, but something that you have to look at for awhile to recognize that it is that way.(due note that this is a really low quality screen shot of the page- it won’t look grainy when it’s actually done) Anyways I’m kinda proud of it- being my first and all. I’m sure years from now I’ll laugh at it and think it’s amateurish, I look at the first of other stuff that I’ve done and think that too.
Anyways just a plug for their business if your in the market for fireplaces or mantles or anything like that, you should definitely check them out.
They are honest trustworthy people who sell some great products, and make really, and I mean really, beautiful mantles!
Wanna know what I did pretty much all day today. Sewed, and sewed, and sewed.
I actually left my Sewing machine in storage so I wouldn’t be so tempted and so I’d catch up on all of our family’s scrapbooking instead. But me and a Ronnie, a friend from the ward talked about making Easter dresses for our little girls and I couldn’t resist. So after lots of fun shopping for fabric a few weeks ago we eventually got down to business of course the day before Easter
I like it and think it’s really cute to see Brynley acting like a dancing princess in it. I’ll have to take some pictures of her in it tomorrow.
And I promise I’ll blog about our fun vacation soon too- it kinda got thrown to the back burner.Read More »
So I don’t know about anyone else but I am constantly painting in the winter time it seems. I always get the great idea right before Christmas that “hey we’ll make presents for Christmas, they’re cheaper and so much more personal” ya you’d think I’d learn or at least remember last years experience, but no I don’t. So instead I’m bundled to the T, freezing in the garage, painting and waiting forever and ever and ever for stuff to dry. And by golly that Poly stain does not want to dry in the cold, we’ll have to eat dinner on the floor for a week before the chairs I refinished dry. I AM though super excited for the massive mirror I got from D.I. for $6 to be done, and I got another Chair that I’m refinishing,(that I’m trying to do a tutorial on how I do them that I’ll post later).
Anyways Dave Graduated! that I didn’t blog on at all I actually forgot my camera so we have no pictures at all (It was long and boring anyways.) But a good accomplishment, I’m very proud of him and I love him especially when he brings me home flowers (like these)-he’s such a sweet guy.
Anyways if your curious and since I have no family that reads my blog it seems I am free to tell you what we’re making for Christmas. First I sewed a butt ton of Rice bags (which are very cozy, soft,& pretty, yum!) and than we made some frames that each have the specific amount slots of kids in their families so that they can just switch out the pictures as they’re families grow and change. ya kinda boring but for poories like us it’s gonna have to do. I’ll show you a shot of them when I finally finish them.
Anyways Merry Christmas Everyone–hopefully your preparing for the holiday’s is going a bit smoother than mine.Read More »
