It’s great to have Friends Visit us :) Pic overload

So we were so lucky to get to have our friends come and visit us on their way home from a job back east. Payton and Brynley have really missed them and we had fun just relaxing and catching up– (it’s kinda crazy though with the Packers it doesn’t matter how long we’ve not seen each other we still just feel pretty comfortable around them like we’ve just seen them yesterday.)We love having great friends like them.

The first evening that they we’re here we just kinda hung out and talked and chatted– and let the kids tear their bedrooms apart playing– which they had tons of fun doing.
Me and Jenni made some hairbows for the little girls– Jenni didn’t know how so I showed her how I did them which I don’t think is right but it works for me :) I think the one’s Jenni did turned out great and it was cute to see Lizzie like them.
We stayed up pretty late and poor little Taylor crashed in daddy’s arms.

Jake and Jenni we’re the first people that I’ve ever taking pictures for, and that was last year so we decided while they we’re here that we’d go out and take some more for them. They originally were going to be leaving the next afternoon so we got up early and went to Manitou Springs- It was a lot of fun because it was pretty dead there cuz it was so early– I didn’t have the greatest lighting so we had to stick to the shadowy places but the kids all had fun playing together and I think they turned out pretty well.

After pictures we we’re pretty hungry so we went to A&W for some breakfast/lunch– they had an old jukebox that the kids were pretty excited about and I just love Lizzie’s air guitar- she’s really rockin it :)

After lunch Dave knew about an old railroad trail that you went through like seven tunnels so we decided we’d go an hike it for fun.

Of course we were all really prepared to do it and wore our best hiking shoes–
All of our feet we’re very black and dirty by the time we we’re done and since I was wearing shorts and there was a lot of foliage my legs we’re itching up a storm-nevertheless it was still fun.

It was very warm cuz’ we did it mid afternoon so it was so nice when we hit one of the tunnels that was cool inside. We only ended up hiking two of the tunnels cuz’ it was so hot and we had forgotten sunscreen for the kids also.

Poor Lizzie tripped in one of the caves and did a bit of a face plant/ slide– she was such a big girl about it and only pouted for a little bit.

We had a lot of fun having them visit and can’t wait to get to see them again.

Work- Break, Work- Break

So we’ve been working and working on our house- all the small things that take forever it seems but when are finished make a house a home– anyways as we’re working along the Bastians keep us up on taking the breaks too- which we need cuz’ I could so work us to death :) So this Saturday the Bastians came over and helped us work– which I was glad cuz’ I could’ve cried all day– my parents were suppose to come and we were finally gonna get the wood floor in- but it didn’t happen, and I was sad :( So after we were done working we decided to go to Helen Hunt falls cuz’ the Bastians hadn’t been there yet.It was a way fun trip- perfect weather- not to many people and we were having fun taking pictures. It was all great until the very end when little Tyler threw a rock over the edge of a little wall down to a stream/very large rock that was making a waterfall, and went over along with the rock. It was a pretty long drop and from the sound of it he landed on his head and than slid down the rock and luckily stopped and didn’t go any further down to the huge waterfall. The sound of it and image will forever be engraven in my mind– I am so glad that he is okay and doesn’t seem to have anything wrong except for a bit of a bruise on his head– all I can say is what a resilient little boy. Other than that :) It was a pretty fun trip and nice break hanging out with friends.

A break :)

So I needed a break and was craving shooting some pics, so Trish, being so nice, arranged that we could go– she found a cool grungy place by some tracks and and old barn– It was a lot of fun taking the pics– Just the break I needed to get my butt back to work on the house and getting some stuff done.

I can’t believe how old my lil brother is getting– he’ll be forever young in my mind :) But we have really enjoyed his help and having him stay with us this summer–(even though I know I’ve been starving him to death- he’s been happy)

I can’t wait to go out again and take some more pics–I think I’ve become really addicted.

Princess Cake
Princess Cake
So it was this little cuties Birthday-

and she really really wanted me to make her a princess cake.
Life is still chaotic but I couldn’t say no to this sweet girl.
Luckily I’ve done this before and thought I’d share an easy way to make a princess cake.

First the supplies– I use cake mix -I’m lazy :) – a small bowl, some frosting, and a doll-
easy enough right.
Step 1- follow directions on box :) and make sure and grease the bowl- (in my case the bowl that’s sliding down the tipping counter top)
Step 2- fill the bowl about yay full- a little over halfway not quite 3/4.
Step 3- Have your sweet boy helping you to make the rest of the batter into cupcakes.
just a note– an Ice cream scooper makes a great spoon for dividing out cupcakes– learned that from some person that was smart and loved to cook- wish I could remember who now though.

Step 4- Cook it as long as you would cook a normal sized cake– refer to the back of box.

Step 5- Let cake cool completly!!! (Unlike me who was impatient this time and took it out to soon and had it crumble so I had to patch it up with frosting.)
Cut off top of cake so that it is flat and tip the cake upside down on a plate
than shove the little dollie in the middle and decorate however you please. Easy peasy.

Frosting patched up one cuz of impatient cook!

Let cool completely one and didn’t have to cover all over with frosting– much better :)
at the end you’ll have one super happy little girl- who couldn’t even wait for the singing to be over before she blew out the candles :) Boy do I love her.
